Deer Zone 2 Season Details
2023-24 Deer Season Dates
Archery: Sept. 23, 2023- Feb. 29, 2024
Muzzleloader: Oct. 21-29 and Dec. 9-11, 2023
Private Land Antlerless-only Modern Gun Hunt: Dec. 29-31, 2023
Special Youth Modern Gun Hunt: Nov. 4-5, 2023 and Jan. 6-7, 2024
Modern Gun: Nov. 11-Dec. 3 and Dec. 26-28, 2023
- Zone Bag Limit
Limit – Five deer, no more than two bucks, which may include:
Zone Notes- Two antlered bucks with archery, muzzleloader or modern gun,
- Five antlerless with archery,
- Three antlerless with muzzleloader and modern gun combined.
- No dogs allowed for deer hunting.
- No antler-point restrictions on harvest.
- Button bucks count as antlerless deer, but must be checked as a button buck.
- Button bucks do NOT count toward a hunter’s buck limit in this zone.
- CWD regulations apply.
- Due to ongoing research, collared or ear-tagged deer may be present. Research deer are legal for harvest. Tag and check research deer as required and call 833-289-2469 within 12 hours of harvest.
Special Deer Regulations (Zone-2 is in a CWD Management Zone)
- It is unlawful to rehabilitate deer.
- It is unlawful to use natural scents or lures that contain natural deer and elk urine or other biofluids.
- Within the CWD Management Zone, button bucks do not count toward a hunter’s two-buck seasonal bag limit.
- Within the CWD Management Zone, any buck may be legally harvested; All antler-point/size restrictions have been removed.
- Within the CWD Management Zone, the seasonal bag limit has been increased.
- Landowners within the CWD Management Zone may apply for additional deer tags to harvest bonus deer. These deer must be submitted for CWD testing. Landowners should contact their local private lands biologist to receive these tags.
Side note: Camp Diana is located at the South-East border of the CWD Management Zone (County border Searcy – Van Buren) with NONE detected White-tailed Deer in the period from July 2022 to June 2023 (AGFC, CWD distribution map ).
